Software Engineering

sealan: huh?

Woo! Had the exam on Wednesday. It went pretty well! Chi was in the exam hall. There was this fat mistake in their paper, I think and a REALLY boring guy read out the correction for like 10 minutes. So annoying!

But yeah, it went good. I don't think there was enough time though. I only had 10 minutes to do the UML diagram and the design pattern one... which sucked. I think I got a 2:1 in this module anyway, which was my aim.

Went to the 'Bristol Pear' afterwards for lunch. Roger beat me at pool. Enough said on that matter...

Bread(!)

Oh yes... the bread! Lily finally used the bread machine. We called it Buggy. First loaf came out really nice. Super yummy. We ate it with cheese, ham, pesto sauce mixed with olive oil & goat's cheese!

next, we will try coffee bread!!

One thing I really liked about it was that it filled the whole room with a fantastic smell. Student kitchen's usually stink. But not our's next year baby . The machine has a 12 hour timer... so we can have fresh bread every morning! Oh yum.

Big Brother

duh duh duh duh dhu duh *flash breasts* duh duh duh duhd uhd duh... hok.

Yes! Big Brother UK! *blap blap blap*

This year's housemates:

  • Bonnie - chav. Yes, as much as I hate the word she is one. Hopefully the show will open her mind... it might do her some good!
  • Dawn - someone who just fucking hates life. But I  really think it was just a front to get on the show. Will be interesting to see how she interacts.
  • George - this public school boy has poor social skills. Especially with such a mix and diverse set of people. It was so evident as they all started to interact. Sandra really likes him though; I better not rince the guy too much.
  • Glyn - I like Glyn. He's a bit young though. I don't think he'll be able to pull off a win.
  • Grace - I like her clothes.
  • Imogen - She is pretty, can speak some next level language, has a cool name and is pleasant looking. I want...
  • Lea - . . . . . . freak!
  • Lisa - Hahahaha! "a disgrace to the chinese race" (Elaine, 2006), "pan cake face girl so fucking annoying!!" (Sandra, 2006.) So funny la!1
  • Mikey - a vain cock. A software developer, but also a cock.
  • Nikki - gold digging, hopeless woman. The kind of woman I really hate.
  • Pete - I can't believe they put a guy with Tourette's Syndrome in the house. I reckon he's pretty clued up though. Tries to be Tim from Spaced.
  • Richard - SEXUAL TERRORIST!!
  • Sezer - from the streets blud! Yeah. Has good communication skills and is pretty clued up. Yin fancies him. SeZeR paLaCe! woz ere 2006 innit.
  • Shahbaz - representing all you gay muslims out there!! I wonder if Riad approves...

Game on!

Soccer

koller: tung tiew mun joo yook!!1 - hahaha...

I'm really looking forward to the World Cup. I'll be in Hawaii for the cup final though (9:00am) though. But hopefully I shall enjoy it on a sandy beach with ice cold beer, served by beautiful hawaiian girls. Mmm... jealous?

I want England to win obviously. Then it's the Czech Rep. (most people know I wank over Nedved's cannon free-kicks, Koller's shiny head and Baros' shitty runs.) They are actually ranked 2nd in the world but I've always liked them as an "underdog." Oh well! It will be interesting to watch anyway.

England have a good side I reckon. Not sure on Sol though because he's been out for so long (like many of the players!) We'll just have to wait and see!

. . . . . . . . .

I actually have a really sore throat at the moment. It brought on a fever & muscle pains too. It's stopping me from sleeping . So I'm on a diet of 3,000 mg of Vitamin C, 20mg of Zinc, 400mg of random painkillers and nice warm earl grey tea with honey & lemon! Lily put some ching chong thing my head this morning. It really burned...  But yeah, she's at her Neuroscience exam right now. I'm praying for her success!

Anyway, take care everyone and study hard.

Logic for Computer Science

manfred kerber: he rocks my world. both ways. (thx)

Happened on Tuesday. It went well! I reckon I'll get a 2:1 in it though coz of my shit continuous assessment marks. But I ain't complaining now. I'm pretty glad it's out the way.

The one question that I messed up on was the proof in the program verification bit. I misread the question (which read: "write to the two opening lines" or something) and spent 15 mins proving the whole program. Oh well...

E3, Nintendo Wii & TOM CRUISE!

e3 logo of doom

Yes, it's that time of year. Geeks alike gather from all over the world to get all hot & sticky over the latest the computer game industry has to offer. Yeah, it is THAT hot outside guys and girls.

Nintendo have really impressed me with their clever & innovative machine, Wii. It aims to give gamers a totally new way of playing. As you may of heard, the controller communicates with the console via Bluetooth, which allows the movement to be sensed in 3D space. This means, that whoever is living below me next year is so very screwed.

This feature alone opens up a great number of possibilites for software developers to innovate. I'm sure we'll see a few new faces making an impact on the industry and people's lives. I mean come on, fishing in Zelda will never be the same again! Maybe I shouldn't go for my masters so I could start developing sooner...

Nintendo realised that innovating is the only way to differentiate themselves from the two other market players. They have already made an impressive impact at E3 already unlike the other two giants, who both share similar characteristics of high price and power in their machines.

sex machine: nintendo wii

So yes, I'm really looking forward to the Wii. I mean, I've always loved Nintendo, so my view is biased in that respect. PlayStation 3 I would buy as well as it has great games (MGS4 & PESx) and is always fun to play, but its too expensive for me.

Oh, Tom Cruise... http://pokecruise.ytmnd.com/

SEGA

Aside from E3, there have been a lot of interesting developments from SEGA in the last few months. My sister has written about it if you're interested. The jist of it is that we may see some good shit coming from SEGA in the next few years... which is always good.

yay! i love sonic and i'm not tails (gay.)

. . . . .

So yeah. I've got another exam next week. Software engineering, so it should be alright. Weather has been great in Birmingham and life on our lovely campus is just bliss.

And yay for the ice cream van! (but wtf is juice?!)

TERM TWO COMPLETE !

yatta !

Phew... I'm glad that's over. Everything seemed to go alright. I have a pretty good chance of getting a first if I do well in the exams. It doesn't really matter, so long as I get over 13% this year (out of 20%) it'll set me up nicely for the last two!

This means I'll be revising a lot this Easter. And with revision comes... procrastination! Hello Xanga!

I'll be in London from this Saturday until the 21st. 3 weeks!  I'm planning to study about 4 hours a day (hopefully) but if you want some irishness you best say because I'll be going on holiday straight after exams which start on the 9th of May.

Anyway ... bon voyage!!
